Baby Storytime at the Library!

Today, we started out the morning by going to Ann's Next Months group.  It was a little early for me - I had just woken up a little late - but I was happy for most of the time we were there.  The rest of the time, I was cranky, which meant it was naptime.  I fell asleep in Momma's arms while she talked to Ann all about my development and I stayed asleep in the car while Momma drove home. She realized it was time for Baby Storytime at the Douglass-Truth branch of the library.  She had heard it was a good time, and there was just enough time to feed me, change my diaper, and check it out.

And I'm so glad Momma did! It was a big room with little baby blankets and board books in each spot of a horseshoe.  Ms. Mynique, the teacher, led us in some fun songs with great motions (my new favorite was the Elevator Song and, my old favorite, Open Shut Them) and then came around and read pages of big books to us individually while the rest of us read and chomped on the books on our mat.  I LOVED -- L-O-V-E-D, LOVED - Ms. Mynique and was just fascinated with her for the whole class, giving her big smiles when she came up to me.  I wish she could read books with me every day!  When Storytime was officially over, we got to mix and mingle and play with some developmentally appropriate toys.  I made a few friends (see below) after bonding over our newfound love of... bubbles.  Wow, it turns out that those things are pretty cool.  Fascinating - all of it.  I can't wait to go again when I'm back from vacation in RI.

After my nap, I had fun playing with Momma at home.  We got to take a couple books home so I could chomp on them, which it turns out I love doing nowadays.  Momma can barely get through a few pages before I want to put my hands on the book and bring it to my mouth!  Also, I became interested in a new thing pictured up top - lunging from a sitting position in Momma's lap onto my tummy and pushing off Momma's hands.... pre-crawling.  Yikes!  I was so proud of myself, but Momma's not ready for that yet! She thinks I should stick to rolling more consistently, since I've recently been getting a little frustrated when I can't always roll or get to where I want to go on the mat. (I can grunt and kick and wriggle and end up in a slightly different direction, though).  I also get frustrated if I drop a toy and can't get it to get it back to my mouth.  It's so tough being a baby!

At night, we went briefly to Momma's partner Jan's retirement party with the families in the WR community.  Everyone just adored and loved on me which was nice, but then I got cranky because it was bedtime, so M&D brought me home.
