Baby Genius

Today was a busy day full of activity with my friends - old and new!  Momma and I slept in a little, since we were out so late last night.  That meant that I went to yoga without a nap.  Luckily, yoga was outside in the park today, so watching my favorite thing (leaves!) entertained me for almost the whole class before I finally fell asleep towards the end.

I came home and had a good nap, waking up just in time for my first class at Baby Genius Academy.  My friends from yoga are taking this class with me, but the only one there today was my pal Anders (in the pink sash below) - the rest of my friends were new ones I met.  Here I am making friends with a new buddy Jorian.  Jorian tried to eat my hands by way of introduction, so I am returning the courtesy in this photo.

I loved my first day of class.  We are wearing sashes because we are pretending to be Masai warriors during tummy time in the "savannah" after reading a story set in Kenya.  (I loved eating mine!) We also practiced putting the eggs you can see behind us in the buckets (they shake like maracas so I had fun listening to that and, of course, eating it).  We also felt some rough things with our feet in the sensory table (as if we were in the desert), made my first piece of artwork using my footprint (a lion - it's drying, we'll take it home next week), took a "hike" through tall grass (of construction paper) where we spotted a zebra (on the wall), and learned some baby sign language in English and... Swahili.  Jambo!

Of course, all I could really understand was that there were cool new textures, colors and babies to play with and Momma thought it was a little silly / more appropriate for a pre-schooler, but she says she joined the class because she wants to tell me I went to Baby Genius Academy later in life so she shouldn't have to help me with my Math homework. :) (And she thought it would be fun to do one "stay at home Mom" type class with me since her maternity leave seems to be almost over).  Also, my baby friends were doing it, and if they jumped off a bridge.... well, I think I would just watch and maybe suck on my arm a little bit... but you get the point.  It's fun for the babies and mommies (and Anders' daddy) to do things together, even if we aren't really going to remember the 6 words in Swahili we spent time "learning." :)

After Baby Genius Academy, it was a mad rush for Momma to cook and clean and get everything ready to host PEPS at our house.  I slept through most of it and she was glad because Daddy was stuck in traffic.  Then, some of my baby friends came over and we had fun hanging out in the backyard while we BBQ'd.  It was a fun and social day!

Oh... and Momma and Daddy tell me it was brother Kobe's birthday today.  He's 9.  To me, that's crazy old.  I gave him an extra drooly kiss and tugged at his fur to celebrate.  Momma and Daddy gave him a big bully stick and told him he would always be their baby.  Here are some flashback photos Momma posted on Facebook.  My brother sure does look different!
